There is just under 2 months to go until the 2014 OJU Continental Open. This is the first time since the 2000 Sydney Olympics that Australia has hosted a major international event. Host nation Australia has selected a large Australian team and they are looking forward to competing on Australian soil against the world’s best.
The two day 2014 OJU Continental Open will be held at the world class WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong – 84 km southeast of Sydney on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 November. The event offers world ranking points and is strategically placed around other IJF competitions, such as the African Open and Qingdao Grant Prix. For competitors not continuing onto Qingdao, there is an abundance of activities and sightseeing to do in and around the Wollongong costal area.
Michael Picken JFA President mentioned that he is delighted to welcome national federations and international clubs to Wollongong. “I am very proud to host the 2014 OJU Continental Open in Wollongong and the JFA is hoping that many countries will come to Australia and experience our unique life style”. Michael went on to say that the 2014 Continental Open is a golden opportunity for Australian judo both organisationally and for our athletes and that we have waited a long time to host a major international competition.
